  25.             The LIDO MAILSERVER for AI literature at the  University  of
  26.             Saarbruecken,  Germany  allows  for the retrieval of biblio-
  27.             graphic information on  AI-related  publications  via  elec-
  28.             tronic  mail.  The references are returned in LaTeX (Bibtex)
  29.             format or in a refer-like format.  As  of  1991,  more  than
  30.             twenty  thousand  documents  are  contained in its database,
  31.             with an annual increase of twenty-five percent.  About  four
  32.             thousand  bibliographic  requests are currently handled each
  33.             year.

  35.             Queries to the  bibliographic  database  may  refer  to  the
  36.             author  name(s),  the  title,  and  the year of publication.
  37.             Substring search and regular expressions (egrep) are  possi-
  38.             ble.   Global  keywords or classification hierarchies cannot
  39.             be accessed.  Users who already have a certain overview of a
  40.             field  will  thus  probably  profit more from the LIDO MAIL-
  41.             SERVER than novices  familiarizing  themselves  with  a  new
  42.             area.
